We are aware of the problems with selecting a realm type, and the issue is being looked at.
Until it is fixed you can work around this by going into your wowtest/WTF folder and editing your config.wtf file to contain the line:
SET realmName Arena Tournament

Tickets for the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment Worldwide Invitational convention and tournament gaming event will be available from Thursday, 20th of March on the Worldwide Invitational website at http://eu.blizzard.com/wwi08/.
In addition to invitational tournaments featuring top eSports competitors playing for a total of $100,000 in prizes, the Blizzard Entertainment Worldwide Invitational will also host casual tournaments for attendees, costume and dance contests, live musical performances, and more. Hmmm tickets are 70 euro's...now how come we have to pay a lot of money here and in korea the event is for free..
You could also compare to BlizzCon 2007, which had a ticket price of $100. The monthly subscription is tied to the continual game operation and development, not to such events.
Btw, it's a valid question, so I'm not sure why you chose to switch to your alt to post. ;-)

Due to population differences between some of the highest and lowest populated PvP realms, the following Free Character Migration will be available from March 12th to March 18th:
From: Burning Legion, Crushridge, Kazzak, Magtheridon, Shadowmoon
To: Auchindoun, Jaedenar
Please note that the migration may be closed at any time should a destination realm's population rise too high.
