Impatience has always been the issue with bots over at World of Warcraft. Some have time to play, while some have none - but still want their characters to keep playing. While the bot debate rages on, it seems the impatience issue has ascended to the level of lawsuits. Blizzard and the creator of bot program WowGlider have filed new motions only a year after they sued each other.
Blizzard filed a case against MDY Industries, the company responsible for WoWGlider, for infringing their intellectual properties. Not to be outdone, WoWGlider programmer Michael Donnelly filed a suit of his own, insisting their right to run third party tools. Now, with the case dragging on, both are seeking summary judgment from the U.S. District Court.

One of the things that we like about Blizzard's World of Warcraft is that some (if not most) locations found in-game are picture-perfect. And that's where the screen capture function kicks in. In WoWInsider's recent Around Azeroth update, Jarsa from Death of Art took a picture of fiery Stratholme, the city that burned ever since Prince Arthas' siege against the undead plague.

Drysc just posted that the PTR is closed and that patch 2.4 testing has concluded. His announcement in totality reads: "The doors to the 2.4 Public Test Realm and Tournament Test Realm are now closing. If you're a fan of Gazmik Fizzwidget's addons (including Feed-o-matic, ReagentCost, and Linkerator), you'll be happy to know that he's already jumping on top of patch 2.4, and in fact he's working right now on a beta of one of his most popular addons, Hunter's Helper. You can download the beta over on WoWInterface -- it won't work so well under WoW 2.3, but it's designed to be taken out on the TTR (or the PTR, if that comes back before the patch drops), and tested out.[View Remaining 2 Paragraphs]

I can't say that I've ever seriously tried to do the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza -- I've seen it happen a few times, and I love the idea, but I've never committed to fishing long enough to be competitive in it. But I'm reconsidering that after reading these extremely fun tips from Resto4Life. Some of them are Druid specific (I bet the Shaman waterwalking spell would come in handy when trying to cross over to islands and through streams), and some of them are just silly, but it's just the right kind of thing to get you in the mindset to do a little Sunday angling. The two sources Resto pulled from have more: Tree of Life has a few helpful tips, while The Game Dame goes in-depth in laying out exactly how to win the event.[View Remaining 2 Paragraphs]

Eurogamer has interviewed Samwise Didier, Warcraft artist and icon, and the man who's pretty much defined the look and feel of Blizzard since even the early days. There's a lot of great stuff for Blizzard fans in this one -- I had no idea that an early build of The Lost Vikings had about 20 Vikings in it instead of the three we know -- and Samwise talks about his influences, including the way that Blizzard makes twists on standard genre conventions.

Relmstein has a good post up about how Blizzard's world PvP has evolved over time, and what we might expect from Lake Wintergrasp, the PvP zone in Wrath of the Lich King. When world PvP began, it was very much an ad-hoc environment, which lead to a lot of 1v1 battles that eventually escalated when wandering guildies or alts showed up. As Relmstein says, the large majority of battles started with that stealthing noise (that used to inspire chills in the spines of those on PvP servers), and ended with an all-out brawl with no rewards but to get the other guys back.[View Remaining 2 Paragraphs]

WoW Rookie is brought to our readers to help our newest players get acclimated to the game. Make sure you send a note to WoW Insider if you have suggestions for what new players need to know.
It's been brought to my attention that there are rookies of all levels. Recent columns have covered very basic topics such as instance play, group etiquette, and account security. Once you get to level 70, you'll have several options including solo play, PvP, and instance raiding. Raiding is a major part of the game, but can be somewhat overwhelming at first.

Spensi on WoW LJ says she may have accidentally ninja'ed -- it was clear before the raid that if Moroes' Pocket Watch dropped, she would get it. But when it actually dropped, she apparently looted it herself as main looter without saying anything, and her guildies didn't quite remember the deal before the instance started. Was it a ninja? I don't know -- there are good points on both sides.[View Remaining 2 Paragraphs]

In the internet age, it's extremely hard to stay relevant without releasing new content. If you're not staying in the public eye by either contributing something to someone else or participating in community, your audience will possibly forget about you, or grow angry at you. Let's hope that Seksi Productions doesn't fall by the wayside, as they announced that their "early 2008" release date for Fury would be delayed by the break that they're taking.

Every Monday Scott Andrews contributes Officers' Quarters, a column about the ins and outs of guild leadership.
We've all come across those mediocre players. They are the hunters that can DPS but don't know how to trap a mob; the shamans that never break crowd control but windfury their way to the top of the aggro list every single pull; the warriors who excel at single-target tanking but can't hold more than one mob at a time. Where do these players come from, and how do they stay so mediocre after 70 levels? The author of this week's e-mail thinks he has the answer: The road to mediocrity is built by your own guild.

The World of Warcraft team will once again be testing the WoW Arena Tournament on the Tournament Test Realm, and you are invited to be a part of the action. Players in all regions will access the same realm, so the call is going out to all PvPers in North America, Europe, and Korea to log into the Arena Tournament Test Realm and participate in all-out PvP action!
This event will take place this Saturday from 12PM to 4PM PDT, and members of the Community and Development teams will join in the fray.
No character copies are needed for the Tournament Realm as you will get access to the character and gear of your choice just by logging in. The 2.4 PTR patch will provide access to the Tournament realm so download it soon and well see you on the battlefield!

While 2.4 has been mostly concerned with the Sunwell and Kil'jaedan, there's still WoTLK to look for in the future, and still a few preliminary tidbits hidden away in the patch files. We've already showed you some shots of the Tuskarr that made it in, as well as the preview page for the race over on the official WoTLK site, and now it looks like someone's dug a bit deeper into the files and found the Tuskarr Animations. The animations are pretty straightfoward, mostly just running, fighting, and casting, but there is an animation in which the Tuskarr jumps up and slams his behind on the ground - perhaps a high powered War "Stomp" to make even Taurens envious? Enjoy this closer look at the gentle giants of the Borean Tundra!

If you've wandered around Stratholme recently in Blizzard's World of Warcraft, you may have come across one very mysterious name: Angelista. Keen-eyed adventurers may have noticed a boutique named "Angelista's Boutique," and may have seen some items bearing her name. But who is Angelista, really?
Angelista doesn't seem to have any lore tied to her name, and because of this WoWInsider readers began to speculate as to the identity behind the name attached to the following items: Angelista's Charm, Angelista's Revenge, Angelista's Sash, so on and so forth.
