Pardo says Blizzard still not interested in bringing WoW to cons...

Blizzard has never been keen to put WoW on consoles -- while there have always been rumors, they've never bothered showing much interest. And in a new interview with IndustryGamers, Blizzard's Rob Pardo tells us why: the controller issue remains a problem (it's certainly possible to map WoW onto a controller, but not yet in any way Blizzard would approve of), and modern consoles have come up with even more problems of their own. A hard drive, says Pardo, would be pretty much required, since WoW is up to around 10gb so far, but even the Xbox 360 (which now commonly allows game installs on the HD) still doesn't guarantee players will have that much space available. And Pardo says that while they have been in talks with Microsoft about what the two companies can do together, he says he's wary of the patching process over there -- it's not exactly as quick as they'd like.

Patch 3.2 PTR Tier 9 set names

Even though Blizzard already said that they'd be introducing a whole new set (or sets) of tier gear, it's still a little overwhelming to see information for Tier 9 gear considering that Tier 8-8.5 has only recently been unleashed with Patch 3.1 and Ulduar. Still, Patch 3.2 looks like some ways off and we can't get too excited about the Call of the Crusade just yet.

As soon as the PTR went live yesterday, Alex and Adam scrambled to put together a whopper gallery of Tier 9 gear which might've overwhelmed the whole lot of us who were all too eager to find out what goodies are in store with the new patch. While a lot of things can still change now until the patch goes live, we do know a few things. Check out the Tier 9 sets in the gallery below, which has been re-organized by class and spec (because we love you all that much), and let's take a look at the Tier 9 sets after the jump.

Ghostcrawler on why Bluetrackers suck

Mike Schramm wrote on 24th June 9pm
Ghostcrawler has finally said on the forums what I've been saying for a while here on WoW.com and elsewhere: using blue text on the forums as a way of disseminating information is "a strange way to communicate." He's been appending the words "[Not tracked]" to some of his posts so they don't end up on the official "bluetracker," because a lot of what he posts is just silly and fun and not to be pored over and examined (especially without the context of the other posts around it). But all of those posts are still picked up by the unofficial bluetrackers that many players follow, and he laments that it's annoying to have people jump in on threads without reading all the context: "you end up looking like a real jerk half the time."

Every Wednesday, Chase Christian of Encrypted Text invites you to enter the world of shadows, as we explore the secrets and mechanics of the Rogue class. This week, we talk VERY tongue-in-cheek about the upcoming addition of Axes to the Rogue arsenal.

As it turns out, my cynicism last week was completely unfounded. I had assumed Death Knights would be getting the new weapon skill that Blizzard had thrown up for grabs, and that we'd have yet another class rolling on Fist weapons. However, Rogues were the recipient of this new buff, and we'll now be able to use Axes in the upcoming patch!

Others (such as 10n < 25n < 10h = 25h) are logically possible, but to me, that's the most likely distribution that leads to three different ilvls. It's also the way Ulduar is done with normal and hard modes, apart from some differences in weapon ilvl.

WoW Rookie: Talking with the enemy

New around here? WoW Rookie points WoW's newest players to the resources they need to get acclimated. Send us a note to suggest a WoW Rookie topic.

You can't talk to the enemy in the World of Warcraft. Shouting "KEK" when you're on your Alliance character doesn't read as "LOL" to the Horde players, no matter how many times you've heard that rumor. You can't Mind Control the enemy and then babble away in your own tongue (although that did work for one amazing, once-upon-a-time period in a long-ago patch). The truth is, trying to leapfrog the Alliance/Horde language barrier is a bannable offense; you're just not supposed to talk to the enemy.

The new Battleground coming with Patch 3.2, the Isle of Conquest, is live on the 3.2 PTR as we speak, and we've been running some games on said Isle to see how it measures up to the current BGs. We're pretty happy with it so far -- it certainly looks great, as you'll be able to tell by checking out the screenshot gallery we've compiled for you. It shows the BG and all its sundry parts in action.

We'll keep you up to date with new Isle info as we get it. If you're on the PTR too, then be sure to queue up -- who knows, it might just be one of us you're ganking!

We have no idea why Coridane is so against Warlocks getting made fun of in the game (he must not be a fan of our very own Warlock-hater, Christian Belt), but apparently it's serious -- serious enough for him to kick you from a raid. We do especially like that the need to assault downed Warlocks is actually a system error ("beep bop"): we would just have assumed that was normal protocol. It sure is in our raids.

Just like any major update, patch 3.2 will introduce its share of new weapon models. The Coliseum Aliance/Horde models will be used in the Argent Tournament and the Argent Coliseum instances, the PvP 3.2.0 items will most likely be rewarded in future arena seasons.

As usual the screenshots are only available in high-definition, sorry for the few people out there who still struggle with a 15" screen.

Ah, Replenishment. No buff might be more welcomed in raids and reviled in theorycrafting. Ever since Ghostcrawler told us it was a necessary buff earlier this year, Blizzard seems to have twirled it around and around, taunting us like the proverbial carrot on a stick. It's been passed out to many classes, buffed a few times, nerfed even more (that Arena nerf was particularly strange), and in patch 3.2, soon headed to the PTR, it's getting nerfed again, even while MP5 (mana per five seconds) is getting a boost. What's the deal?

WoW Moviewatch: Project Lordaeron

Michael Gray wrote on 24th June 1pm

Project Lordaeron is a music video by Vinex. According to the author, this is his first video, and it doesn't have a "real" storyline. While that might be the literal truth, I think that Vinex's movie actually speaks to the tragedy and events that occured in Lordaeron. The movie features the well-known scene at the opening of the Culling of Stratholme, and goes on to show how the madness of Arthas radically changed what is now known as the Plaguelands. You're ultimately left with a haunting series of images that helps drive home the themes surrounding Arthas Menethil's story.

I found the music particularly interesting and very well suited to the pace of the video. Vinex and Xayo created the original score for Project Lordaeron, which instantly raised my opinion of the piece. I think it's exciting to see new authors creating their own music to go alongside their imagery, since it can often promise a more "whole" piece from the final product. I'm curious to see what music the pair might forge for other videos, as I'd be thrilled to see more and more complex soundtracks.

The Image of Archmage Vargoth can travel the whole world and see everything there is to see, but there's one thing he can't do -- eat delicious baked goods. Oh, and love, but who cares about inability to love when you're faced with the inability to stuff your face with cream puffs? Vadric of <Hammer of Goel> on Moon Guard taunted the conjurer by bringing him to Aimee's dessert cart in Dalaran. Then Vadric presumably devoured an entire Lovely Cake by himself, while Vargoth sobbed and desperately tried to lick frosting off of the blood elf's fingers.

As you've probably seen on the site before, I grew bored of the Argent Tournament really fast. I still think the mind-numbing repetition is a pretty big step backwards in their world design thus far, but all of the recent Patch 3.2 news has been making me hopeful that it won't always be the overly repetitive mess I see it as right now. It's driven me back to doing the Tournament quests, even!

Now that the PTR is up, the floodgates have been opened. We're beginning to see a ton of new information about the next major content patch, the Call of the Crusade, including but not limited to the new Tier 9 sets. I know, it's crazy, right? I haven't even completed my Tier 8.5 set and here comes Blizzard dumping all this new gear on my lap. Ok, it's technically not that easy to get the gear but it'll certainly be easier with the new badge loot system. It's the dawn of the casual age of WoW, and Blizzard is taking a huge leap experimenting with dungeon modes.

You'll notice that the promised 10% experience gain is there on all the pieces, and that they are slightly bugged right now in that each of them has no armor.
