a lot of people seem to be having trouble with this new event quest/daily so i hope this helps..
easiest way for me to do it was have camera zoomed out a max range, and at the angle that its looking down on top of your character. with the first throw you can easily see where its going, and after that its just a matter of running to the next place fast enough. Good Luck!
edit: you can further increase your zoom range through your interface/camera options menu

Also, lead the torch a little bit -- keep moving a bit forward and odds are you'll catch it more easily.
